Exercises For Hips - 3 of the Very Best Hip Exercises!
So you're looking to tone your hips, thighs and basically your entire lower body? Well, you're not alone in that respect. I've been working as a personal trainer for about a decade now about 90% of the women I give consultations too specifically ask me for exercises for hips, thighs and their glutes (bum). Here's what I usually give them..
Exercises For Hips - Movement #1 - Kicks
If your gym has a punching bag, this is not only one of the better exercises for hips but also, it'll get your heart rate elevated and serve as a nice start to the workout. Be sure to mix it up as well. Here's a sample plan..
- 10 front kicks (each leg)
- 10 side kicks (each leg)
- 10 round kicks for each leg (Thai style)
Rest 1 minute and repeat.
As for the technique, just do the best you can. You're not training for a fight here, you're just training to burn some fat.
Exercises For Hips - Movement #2 - Hip Abduction Machine
This is one of the most popular exercises for hips and due to its popularity, it's more than likely your gym will have a hip abduction machine. There will usually be two similar looking machines right next to each other. There's a hip adduction machine that has you drawing your legs together against resistance and the hip abduction machine - which you will be doing here - has you opening your legs against the resistance.
- Perform 3 sets of 12-15 repetitions
- Rest 1 minute between sets
Exercises For Hips - Movement #3 - Lying Leg Lifts
This is also one of the better exercises for hips as it can be done anywhere. You can even do it while you're at home watching a movie. You basically just lie on your side, prop yourself up with your elbow and "abduct" your leg (elevate it upwards) and then lower it back down slowly. It's important not to bring your leg all the way down as doing so will alleviate the tension on the muscles you're trying to isolate.
- Perform 3 sets of as many controlled, properly performed repetitions as you can do
- Switch from leg to leg without resting between sets
Important To Note!
You can't spot reduce! Meaning, you can't pick an area on your body, target it through isolation exercises and expect to lose fat off that specific area. You can perform exercises for hips all day long but if you don't create a calorie deficit - through the implementation of calculated, yet healthy eating habits - you'll never lose any weight. Exercising is only half the battle. You really need to get yourself on a healthy eating plan that has you consuming frequent, yet healthy portions of food - including the right ratios of micro-and macro nutrients - in order to lose weight

Understanding Paper Cutter and Trimmer Terminology
If you have begun the search for a paper cutter or trimmer for your home or office, you've probably already found that there are a great number of machines out there. In fact, there are dozens of models produced by great manufacturers such as Fellowes and GBC. Of course, it's also unavoidable that you will run into some terms that you are not familiar with -- some of them proprietary, some of them industry wide terms that apply to all paper cutting machines. Here, then is a quick guide some of the words, phrases and terminology that you may encounter on your search for a paper cutter for your office.
Trimmer: This refers to the type of paper cutter in which the paper is cut by the means of a round blade that slides, usually with a guide bar. Rotary trimmers usually have a capacity of about ten pages and are meant for smaller projects and lighter duty cutting.
Guillotine-type paper cutter: This is exactly what it sounds like, featuring a blade with a handle on the end that is brought down in one motion to cut larger stacks of paper. Able to cut as many as forty pages at once, guillotine-type cutters are designed for high-volume cutting, and bigger projects.
Adjustable Back Guide: This is a device that sets a fixed back edge on the surface of the trimmer or cutter, which holds the paper in place and helps greatly in ensuring fast, accurate repeat cutting of documents that are the same size, without the user having to realign the stacks of paper that are to be cut every time.
Bi-Directional Push/Pull Trim: A feature of most of the higher end trimmers, like those manufactured by GBC and Fellowes, this phrase simply means that the rotary blades of the trimmer allow it to be used in both directions. This may seem like a small detail but it can really save the user a lot of time and effort on even a small to medium project.
Quick Change: This is a system that is featured on Fellowes trimming systems that allows for fast, easy and safe blade cartridge removal and insertion. In this system, the actual blades are never touched by the user, increasing the safety aspect. Many paper trimmers require the use of tools to change the blade making the process somewhat cumbersome and dangerous if you are not careful.
SafeCut: This is a trademarked term that relates to safety features included on Fellowes trimmers. The term "SafeCut Blade Cartridge" refers to the enclosed system mentioned above which ensures that the blades can't be touched by the user when changing. The term "SafeCut Guard" refers to the pre-assembled, foldable guard on Fellowes Guillotine style cutters that keeps users safely away from the blade. This style of blade guard also makes storage of the cutter easier and more safety-minded. Some Fellowes machines also include what they refer to as the SafeCut LED Guide. This is a straight LED, or light emitting diode, line that gives the user a straight cutting line. Fellowes claim is that the LED light is safer than the lasers that some other manufacturers include with their trimmers, because it cannot hurt the user's eyes.

Andis Professional 26700 Styliner II Personal Trimmer
Andis Professional 26700 Styliner II Personal Trimmer Review
I have had my andi Professional trimmers for over 8 yrs now. Have never had a problem with them. I have only had to buy new blades when they get dull. I am a professional hair dresser so I use them everyday many times a day. I first purchased them when I worked at Ft.Sill at the barber shop. I would at time shave over 100 heads in a day with these. I love them. I used to have to replace my trimmers with new ones about twice a year because they would burn out. Going on over 8 years with these. Well worth the money!
